I respond with my own blood and half-forgotten memories to his visceral accounts of a world undergoing dissolution, a change far beyond the ordinary and for which words cannot suffice and yet, miraculously, they do in his poems. I am taken most of all with the evocations of an older Romania, which existed in myths and in the mythic visitations of hummingbird, lilac, and butterflies and grandparents.
