THE CIRCLE RHODES QUARTET Welcome to a world without gravity. A massive explosion from the sun grips the Earth's magnetic field as it passes, causing the Earth's rotation rate to increase. The faster speed creates the effect of a merry-go-round, and as a result, anything freestanding suddenly floats up in the air in a sudden, terrifying rush. Millions perish in the terrifying ascent. Two of the survivors are Ruth and Steven Rhodes, two M.I.T. graduates, and their small child, Circle. Circle comes of age in the air, a world of chaos, instability, and uncertainty. Follow Circle in his journey in the sky, across the world, and through his life in a world that is up in the air, but where people long to be grounded. BOOK 4: COMING FULL CIRCLE Circle has found his peace in life and journeys to return to Houston. Along the way, he gets lost in the desert and is rescued by the People of the Desert. Here he meets a beautiful Navajo girl named Mai who gives him a precious gift. After helping the People of the Desert, Circle returns to Houston. There he finds a battle, however, because NASA scientists have devised a way to get down to the earth again by slowing the Earth down. A fight has begun, however, because a radical group of people have gotten used to living in the air and don't want to return to the ground because they would lose their power. Circle must decide how to help with the battle in the air and has a battle in his own heart over Rosario and Mai.
