The Chrysalis Effect is about growth and finding one's true power. It follows Ellen's story from the first book, Friends in High Places, where she realises the help and support she has from the angelic realms. In this story we see her transformation to a state of higher spiritual awareness and a realisation that there is more to life than meets the eye. She sees herself in past life situations, feels her energy growing as she practises Tai Chi and has some interesting conversations with her co-workers and her aging father. She begins to pay attention to events that she can't easily explain and, in the past, would have dismissed as mere curiosities. It is then that her life begins to take shape.
