Publisher's Synopsis
Muna's bedroom is a dark, windowless cellar. Her daily activities are confined to cooking, cleaning, and performing other tasks of servitude for the members of the Songoli family. She doesn't know how to read or write, and has never been outside. She cannot even speak English - or, at least, that's what the Songolis believe... But the day their youngest son Abiola fails to return home from school is the day Muna's fortunes change for the better. For she is far cleverer - and her plans far more terrifying - than the Songolis, or anyone else, can ever imagine...
