Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from The Carpenters' and Builders' Guide: Being a Hand-Book for Workmen, Also a Manual of Reference for Contractors, Builders, Etc

The first part treats upon building materials, and approximate method of making estimates, and may be depended upon when properly applied in estimating for materials of an average quality It is also recommended, that close attention be given to this subject, as no department of the business is of more importance, or requires more skill than this.

The glossary of architectural terms is full, and has been compiled from the best authorities.

The definitions and problems are of the highest importance to draftsmen, since without a thorough knowledge of them, but little progress can be made in the art. They have not been illustrated by diagrams, as it is believed the learner will obtain more practical information by following the directions given, and drawing the lines himself, than by any other method.
