Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from The Camera Man, His Adventures in Many Fields: With Practical Suggestions for the Amateur

Throughout the armies and navies of Europe the camera men have been carefully organized. The photographer is usually a commissioned of ficer, and becomes a recognized part of the great military organizations. There are hun dreds of camera men in the first line trenches; they travel on forced marches with troops of cavalry, artillery, and infantry on every battle front in the broad theater of war; they serve with the engineering corps, in the hospitals, with the aeronautical division, and at sea, and are witnesses of every phase of the army's ac tivity.

When a camera man is enlisted, he is as signed to one of the commanders, and while serving he is responsible to him. The photog rapher makes his permanent residence at the front at the headquarters of the detachment to which he is assigned. He is always at the dis posal of the field commander at any hour of the day or night, and takes orders from no one else. Hundreds of moving picture opera tors have been enlisted in the great war on the German side alone.
