In 1536 he took the degree of mafier of arts, and foon after, he was appointed by the univerfity, teacher of the Greek language in the public fehools, for which he had a genteel falary: he Iikewife commenced tutor, and had feveral young fiudents of rank under his care for other branches of education; fome of whom proved eminent fcholars, particularly William Grindal, recom mended by Sir John Cheeke, to be mailer of Ian guages to the princefs Elizabeth.
