Publisher's Synopsis
Maggie McCray is a student working on her master's degree in anthropology. During a scuba dive on the Columbia River collecting data for her thesis, she discovers an unusual petroglyph. Several months later on an elk hunt in the Bitterroot Mountains with her father's Native American foreman, he shows her the same image in a hidden cave his father had told him about.
Her life takes a turn when a government agent, suspecting she knows the location of an alien craft shot down over the Bitterroots in 1947, steals the skeletal evidence she found that she believes proves the existence of an alien or small child. But it isn't the skeletal remains she loses that leads her to a discovery above the slopes of a nearly inaccessible lake in the heart of the Bitterroots, and the secret that lies concealed beneath its depths.
