Hello. Let me introduce you to the Billygoo Bird. Why? Because she is a marvelous thing. The Billygoo Bird began as an art concept for one of my oil paintings, a whimsical surreal character that my grandchildren might enjoy. A departure, I admit, from my other work but one that was fun to render and young at heart. While I painted her, the "life and times" of the Billygoo came to me in rhyme. The unconventional personality quirks played out in fanciful phrases and the Billygoo Bird came alive in my studio right under my nose. She is still there nesting in the corner, pouting from a lack of attention at times, but respectful of visitors. Now what? At her insistence, I completed a series of black and white drawings to illustrate this creature more fully. Initially I rendered the words in hand-drawn letters. It is as complete as my time and vision allowed. With this effort The Billygoo Bird became her own book. She is delighted with this and will enjoy meeting her readers. Brad Kauzlaric - 2006
