The Belgian Tervuren is a medium-sized, athletic and muscular herding type of dog. It has a thick double coat that normally comes in a mahogany coloration with hints of black speckled throughout its coat. The breed also has a black mask that covers its muzzle which gives it a similar appearance to the German Shepherd. As a whole the Belgian Tervuren is a highly energetic and intelligent dog. They need constant attention and exercise to keep them occupied. Like most working dogs, the breed is known to develop destructive habits if they are not exercised properly.
