Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from The Beginning and End of Man

The following considerations formed the sub stance of a course of sermons delivered at Our Lady of Victories, Kensington, in October, 1920, shortly after the pronouncements of an Anglican Canon on the Fall had aroused some interest in the newspapers. The text of the sermons has been slightly abbreviated, but no further effort has been made to edit them except in so far'as the written word must necessarily differ from the spoken. The writer claims no specialist knowledge on any branch of natural science, nor any originality for his Views; he has simply attempted to turn the light of common sense on a subject which only calls for such treatment because so many of us.are still content to be hypnotised by catchwords.
