Following on from 'Secrets of Hightower', which has been shortlisted for the Sheffield Children's Book Awards, Nick and his friend embark on exciting new adventures. It's Winter, and for Nick Collins, life has started to settle down a bit…well, as much as it can when you're responsible for looking after an entire world of thousands and thousands in total secrecy! Okay, so he's a bit worried about his mum's awful new boyfriend Dave, who seems to have sinister plans concerning his future, but he's keeping a wary eye on that and hopes he can handle it. Things take a dramatic turn and life suddenly becomes a lot more complicated. However, when Nick discovers that his secret world is not quite as unique as he thought it was! His help is desperately needed and so Nick and his friends are suddenly plunged into a series of adventures where they meet strange new characters and visit incredible new places. But though Nick doesn't know it, something is terribly wrong. When he finally discovers the truth, he starts to realise just how much trouble he's in…and it's the sort of trouble that will make the problems he has with Dave seem very small indeed.
