Publisher's Synopsis
This book of 32 humorous, rhyming poems and 105 color cartoons is about kids who do things they shouldn't do, like being reckless, selfish, gluttonous, foolish, disrespectful, malicious, impulsive, lazy, stupid, dishonest, disobedient, petulant, unkind, irresponsible, unhygienic, imprudent, etc., and the unfortunate but darkly humorous consequences of such behavior. The primary inspiration behind the book are Hilaire Belloc's "Cautionary Tales." Especially since some of the kids in the poems end up maimed or dead and on account of the dark humor (although none of the cartoons are gory or really morally objectionable), parents might want to consider whether this book is appropriate for their very young children. The target audience is kids from about 9 to 99 years old. Click on the cover pic to see a few of the poems. Here are 2 more of the shorter poems as well: Gossiping Gail - Gail liked to gossip Behind the others' backs; But this made some girls angry; One attacked her with an ax. Ricky the Unsafe Rider - Ricky used to ride his bike Without reflectors on; And now he rides a wheelchair, Since both his legs are gone.
