Publisher's Synopsis
The Arabian Nights Entertainments by Anonymous
The Arabian Nights Entertainments It is a collection of stories in the Middle East and South Asia and folk tales compiled in Arabic during the Islamic Golden Age. The work has been compiled over the centuries by a number of writers, translators and scholars across West, Central, South Asia and North Africa. The tales tell their roots, dating back to ancient and medieval Arabs, Persia, Mesopotamia, India, Jews and Egypt, folklore and literature. In particular, many of the tales are original folk stories from the Caliphate, while others, especially the most framed stories, are likely drawn from the Pahlavi Persian Hazar Afsan work, which is partially based on Indian elements.
