The Foyle/Beeleigh Abbey copy, preserving the original red cloth with fox motif. One of Surtees' classic works about fox hunting, with coloured plates by Henry Alken, including the pictorial title page.

First edition, mixed issue (plates dated 1846, Preface dated 1847). Seven coloured plates, including frontis and additional title, and 43 woodcuts throughout text; uniformly a little toned but good, pp. vi, 326, [4], 8vo; contemporary full tan calf, boards with double gilt fillet, spine ornately gilt in compartments with five raised bands, label, top edge gilt; neatly rebacked, preserving the original red decorated cloth bound in; bookplate at front pastedown of Oliver Belmont and at end of Lewis Fox Blumberg, Foyle book label on front free endpaper; recent slipcase.
