Also, there is no reverence to the exceptional, unique burdens the Negro had to encounter once cast among those who felt they freed them. The author of The American Negro attempts to discuss the actuality of the trauma that led to the destruction of the Negro community. It is the author's attempt to provide the insight of the transition from slavery to re-enslavement to marginalization.
