Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The American College and Its Economics: President Hamlin's Baccalaureate Address at the Eight-Fifth Commencement of Middlebury College
It has been maintained by some that the medical profession may be exempted altogether from the study of the classics.
At all events it seems to be acting upon this view. In our great medical schools but few of the students have the degree of A. E., per haps one in 20 or 30.
Still it may be questioned if this is not a loss to the profession, if it be not a letting down somewhat of its character.
