Publisher's Synopsis
The danger of sexual abuse in adolescence is well known. In the UK, however, little attention has been paid to the physical and emotional abuse of this group. This report considers evidence that adolescents are commonly subjected to all forms of ill treatment. Largely unreported, this abuse only comes to light when young people develop anti-social or disruptive behaviour. The relevance to the UK situation of international research - especially that from North America - is discussed and more effective ways of dealing with the abuse of adolescents are also examined.
