Publisher's Synopsis

"That Little Hill Off Yonder" is a recreation of the fierce fighting on Little Round Top during the Battle of Gettysburg. The protagonist is Lieutenant Washington Roebling of Brooklyn Bridge fame, but in 1863 an aide to Gouverneur Kemble Warren, Chief Engineer of the Army of the Potomac. Dr. Knoke has framed his novella with an actual letter written by Roebling in 1913 to a Captain James Smith, a letter he imagines is being read by Roebling's second wife Cornelia in 1922. Her fascination with it is that she has no idea her husband had even fought in that conflict! The book features two color paintings by renowned Civil War artist Dale Gallon, twelve black-and-white period photographs, two maps, four Appendices, and a thirty-eight-entry Bibliography. The main characters are real, the events historically accurate, the combat vividly recreated. No Civil War buff will want to put this book down!
