br> The majority of these interviews with the philosophical German barber and his lively assistant have appeared in the New York "Sun," mainly in its Sunday editions, during the past eight months; a few of the shorter ones appear here for the first time. The first one ever published was that obtained on the hottest day in 1882, and headed in this collection, "Ninety-nine in the Shade." That formed a portion of a longer article. The one that really led the series was that now entitled, "The Secret of Happy Wedded Life."
