Scientist Indian National Science Academy and President Health Care and Research Association for Adolescents. He is the former Director, Sanjay Gandhi PGI Medical Sciences, Lucknow and ex-Director/Dean Institute Medical Sciences, Varanasi. His outstanding contributions to the medical fratenity includes his work on Mechanisms in red and cell Iysis prevention by corticosteroids; Leucocyte free alpha nitrogen and amino acid patterns in protein calorie malnutrition; Salivary ferritin in protein energy malnutrition, latent iron deficiency; and Brain neurotransmitters. His current research interest is on "Probiotics in Control of Diarrhoea", particularly in malnourished children. Prof. Agarwal was trained in Pediatric Haematology from the University of Uppsala, Sweden. He did his MD in Pediatrics from the University of Delhi in 1969.
