God is a King with a peculiar sphere of influence. Therefore, as with any other government, operates a legal system. The government of God is a realm of life that is directly influenced by His Spirit. The people of Israel didn't have the grace of God flowing in their lives. Instead, they had grace flowing from the Temple. That was a huge limitation that necessitated a change. Therefore, the law was taken away from a natural Temple and placed in people. So, what God took away was the limitation and not the law itself (Romans 8:1-2). God expects us now to meet the righteous requirements of the law, not because we on our own can, but because He has given us His Spirit. Through the help of the Holy Spirit, we can now meet the righteous requirements of the Ten Commandments.
