Publisher's Synopsis
Free ebook: TinyURL.com/sunartist This book started when I saw an Artist's Statement that appeared to focus entirely on the artist's internal struggles. Really? "Poor you" was all my narcissistic heart could reply. I wanted to find the artist and tell him, "Please WOW me!" Instead of telling me about his long painful journey, why not select three or four peak experiences and link them with a story? Pull me into that story with some eye-catching images and videos. Go beyond "I, my and me." "I did this" and "here's MY work" does not automatically inspire me to click on the site's "contact ME" link. KEY RECOMMENDATION: Your site is about you (Here's my work, here's what I believe, contact me). Your site will be stronger if you include the items that connect socially, such as "Free materials" and "Tell me what moves you" (to pull the viewer into your site with comments). OFFER: This book comes with an offer: If you need a free website (there is no cost to display the site), I'll create a simple site for you. If you like the free site, then make a $5 donation to artserve.org and you can keep the free site for the rest of your life and pass down to the next generation the code for updating the site. Complete the "What do you believe?" worksheet, send your autobiography, artist's statement and photos that you want displayed, along with contact info to 954 646 8246, and I'll put together a free website for you. The original title of this book was Tell Us What You Believe Create an Interactive Artist's Statement that People Want to Visit Again and Again (Beyond the "I, MY, ME" Website) Recommended: videos by Simon Sinek You can set up a digital footprint that displays your work. Your footprint includes the videos that you post, the comments and likes that you give to videos, and the one-way links to sites that you respect (if you share a link on Facebook). With a bit of guidance from several Simon Sinek videos, you could also add pieces that will pull readers into your site. Look at Sinek's signature vision (please note the poster on the title page of this book). His "WHY" goes like this: "I imagine a world in which the vast majority of people wake up every day inspired to go to work, feel safe and valued while they are there, and return home at the end of the day fulfilled." This is the key point that Sinek makes in his book Start With Why: "Tell me what you believe. If I have the same beliefs, then I'm going to remember you." Some people might answer: "This is what drives me. This is what I think about when I wake up each morning. This is my purpose in life. This is WHY I do what I do." As an artist, you have opportunities to post your Artist's Statement in several places. Start with a website and add a blog and a YouTube Channel. You can influence readers with your passion and enthusiasm. Go ahead, share your interests. Your website will sparkle if you follow the recommendation of "tell us what you believe."
