Publisher's Synopsis
Documentary about the emergence of the 'teenager' at the turn of the 20th century. With the end of child labour a new transitionary stage between childhood and adulthood emerged. During these teenage years the young were either regimented or rebellious and by the 1940s a new youth culture had developed. Using archive material and featuring the voices of Jena Malone and Ben Whishaw, the film takes a look at four real-life teenagers from the first half of 20th century - Bright Young Thing Brenda Dean, Hitler Youth Melita Maschmann, Swing Kid Tommie Scheel and Boy Scout Warren Wall.
