When Bambi took on Godzilla in the legendary cartoon of five seconds, there was no contest and no joke. One stomp said it all. The year 2012 didn't need an asteroid to hit; the biggest hit was Tebow versus Gronk. Second year players Rob Gronkowski of New England Patriots and Tim Tebow of Denver Broncos have come from hinterlands to hog a sports media spotlight in 2011. Unfortunately, neither player actually plays one-on-one against the other, in the same game. They are cogs in a machine, but their personalities knock heads like King Kong and T-Rex. True stars seem to explode on the scene like a supernova, and Tim Tebow and Rob Gronkowski have captured the imagination of sports fans in a season that almost never happened, owing to labor disputes. Tebow and Gronk came to fame unheralded, not foretold by comets, entrails of sheep, or ESPN media experts. Something happened about halfway into the 2011 season. The media discovered them and turned on the spotlight. Not surprisingly, Tebow and Gronk were ready for their close-up. A collection of tart pieces (over 50 comic essays) observes our two players. This slight serving of humor satisfy all the critics.
