Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from Te Karere, Vol. 41: Hanuere, 1946

It should be remembered that character is a positive achievement, not merely refraining from breaking the nega tive commandments, important as this is. Moral character requires far more than this. The greatest of the command ments are positive. This is distinctively recognized and emphasized in both the Old and the New Testament. Character is to be evaluated by the extent, to which the individual grasps the meaning of these positive command ments and reduces them to practice in everyday living.
