Publisher's Synopsis

Taliesin is regarded as the "primary chief bard of the island of Britain" - a real figure who lived in Wales during the latter half of the 6th century. Material relating to Taliesin falls into two groups - poems composed by the 6th century bard and a vast body of mystical allusion, story and song constellating around the figure of Taliesin, but frequently pre-dating him by several hundred years . From this virtually unknown body of authentic material, John Matthews has reconstructed what may be seen as the original Shamanic and Bardic mystery teachings of Britain and Ireland. There are references to methods of divination, the secret language of poets which kept the ancient mysteries in a coded form, the secret lore and teachings of the bardic schools, the teachings and beliefs of the Druids and the foundation mysteries of the Celtic Arthur.
