Join Sarah Shufflebottom in the fight to protect her daughter from the evil witches of Crow Abbey. Sarah is blessed with many allies in this desperate struggle; which is good as her enemy's evil knows no bounds. To save her daughter Necky, she must best: armies of dim-witted soldiers, scores of trigger happy witches mounted on flying carpets, and squadrons of fearful wyverns, piloted by archaic creatures hell-bent on pyromania. In addition to these terrors she must also defeat: mind bending pixies, clouds of vampire bats, and a sea of undead creatures, intent on rending living flesh. In the beginning Sarah's only allies in this desperate struggle are her straight laced husband Jebediah and her fiercely loyal Patterdale Terrier Bracken. However a chanced meeting in the shanty wagon with two drag artists is the beginning of a liberating friendship. Later on Sarah meets Shamus and Grace O Hooligan, who prove to be the dearest friends imaginable; they open the door into a half-glimpsed fantastical world, populated by: friendly leprechauns, the magical animals of the Fairy Wood and the Elves from the Tree Top City.
