Publisher's Synopsis
Anna, the main character and the narrator of the stories, is a thirty-one-year-old pleasant woman from a wealthy Venetian family. She works in Bologna as a brilliant manager of a German company with an Italian branch. She has a strong personality and what is weak in her is that she tries to hide or overcome. Her innate curiosity and helpfulness towards others won't make things easy for her, while she struggles to face all kinds of adversities, with changing fortunes. A difficult sentimental setback in her youth, still weighing her down, prevents her from living a peaceful relationship with her partner.
The series "ANNA: STORIES, DEEDS AND MISDEEDS" is formed by 4 books.
In the first book THAT SHAMELESS VENETIAN GIRL we travel between Venice and Istanbul with a strong woman, an "ante litteram" feminist, determined to take her place in a world controlled by men. Lucrezia's adventurous autobiography, written in the 1700s, is found by chance by her descendant, Anna, in the old palace of her Venetian parents. Reading her story, she learns that Lucrezia, after the golden adolescence in the family of rich Venetian merchants, because of a shipwreck arrives to Istanbul where she lives many adventures. With Anna, we will also meet some fascinating side characters like the joyful Janissary Marcello Forestier, the mediocre uninhibited painter Paolo Vicentino, the guardian of the Harem Selim, emasculated but still very interested in femininity, the hesitant prince Suleiman, the madly in love doctor Cacciapuoti, the sorceress and witch Melissa.
The second volume "THAT HELL STREET'S DIRTY TROUBLE" is based on Anna's personal, work and sentimental experiences: she investigates the theft of an important patent of the Company she directs, with a murder, sexual implications and a surprise ending.
In the third volume "THOSE ADVENTUROUS WAR LOVES" two stories relating to the Second World War are told, with effects still evident today.
In the fourth volume "THOSE EXTRAVAGANT AFFAIRS" different stories intertwine with sentimental and sexual implications involving Anna herself and her partner Antonio.
