Jude's experiences began with a vivid dream that encouraged her to go off to Egypt to try and understand what it was all about. She then traveled to Syria and India, all the while being open to experiences and accepting the guidance that she felt she was being given. It's written in the present tense, so it seems very immediate and the reader can share in the experiences along with her. She presents experiences and beliefs from various religions including Sufism, Buddhism, Christianity, and Catholicism and focuses on the similarities between them and how they all, no matter how different they seem, have certain very similar characteristics.
