Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Suspiris De Profundis: Being a Sequel to the Confessions of an English Opium-Eater and Other Miscellaneous Writings
This volume contains the entire remainder, so far as the publishers are aware, of the scattered writ ings of Mr. De Quincey, which it has been thought advisable to add to the collected edition of his works. Most of the papers were acquired from the original publishers (messrs. James Hogg and Son), and, with the exception of those reprinted from the London Magazine, have all had the benefit of the Author's revision and correction. The paper on Chronology was written about twenty years ago, and is now printed for the first time from the Author's manuscript, which bears evident marks of having been carefully revised for the press.
