In 'Beyond the Pale', Whicher is called in by politician Sir Edward Shore (Nicholas Jones) to personally investigate threats made to his son's life. In 'The Ties That Bind', Whicher is employed to follow the wife of a wealthy landowner to try to prove her adultery.
