It is an examination of what it takes to keep one's faith and sanity in the midst of trying to please God every step of the way. Written from the perspective of a thirty-nine-year-old career gospel preacher and pastor from the Deep South, who, while still in the midpoint of his ministry, has experienced many of the ups and downs and internal conflicts that come with ministry.
Surviving Your Calling deals with the hazards of being young, gifted, and misunderstood; sustaining church relationships; living through expanding and contracting ministries but also being persecuted, losing friends, feeling underappreciated, wanting to quit, dealing with depression, and, finally, coming out on top. The author is a survivor, writing to inform and encourage other ministers and aspiring ministers of the gospel on what to expect from a life of ministry, and on how to survive it.
