Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Supplement to Jamieson's Scottish Dictionary: With Memoir, and Introduction
A considerable number of corrections both of meaning and etymology will be found in the new edition of the scottish dictionary issued a few years ago but the original plan of that edition, and the arrangements for its publication, did not permit more than a partial treatment of this section of the work. And when it was found that an additional volume would be required to overtake the supple mentary matter that had been collected, it was resolved to reserve the more im portant corrections and improvements for that volume. By this arrangement the present work has been made doubly useful for it forms a supplement both to the old and to the new edition of the dictionary.
