The Book of the Twelve Prophets (ancient Greek dodecapropheton, Hebrew tre asar (Aramaic for twelve)). It is a collection made of twelve books of prophets in Tanach, the Hebrew Bible. They were often delivered on a single parchment and therefore have been considered as one book in Judaism since about 180 BC. This book belongs in the Tanach with and after Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel to the "rearward" prophets.Christianity adopted the twelve prophets as individual books in its Old Testament and left them as "little ones.In the Greek Septuagint of Judaism (which originated around 250 B.C.) the twelve prophetic books were organized somewhat differently than in the later Tanach.
