Publisher's Synopsis
How can classroom technology devices be used to increase student motivation and engagement? Choice-based assessments, classroom activities in which students are given some element of choice in how they meet defined learning objectives, may provide the answer. This book is based upon a comprehensive, peer-reviewed research study of the phenomenon of student choice in classrooms with 1:1 technology devices through the perceptions of students and teachers in high school classrooms in Maine. A particular focus of this study is to make sense of the variety of ways that student choice can occur, as well as how technology can facilitate the presence of choice.
