Publisher's Synopsis
The second edition, as the first, devotes to each chapter a section on history, locations of important collections and palaeoecology. Range charts based on lithostratigraphy and biostratigraphy show stratigraphic ranges for land sections and off-shore areas, with a brief summary of the faunal associations and facies of each major unit. The book has been expanded by some 100 or more printed pages including illustrations and results.;Emphasising the most stratigraphically useful species and those which occur in abundance, the authors describe and identify almost 600 individual species, illustrated with detailed electron micrographs which are a feature of the book. The editors continue in the tradition of the first edition, compiling up-to-date research data and blending it with existing results, to form a reference book for the identification of foraminifera and stratigraphical dating of fossil assemblages and rocks.;The previous edition of this book was published in 1981.
