Publisher's Synopsis
Anya Sloane is speeding away from tiny Windy Corners with a rescue beagle and a broken heart when Roger, the town's loveable oddball, throws a wrench in her plans. Now the car's in for repairs, and there's no sign of the pup who fled the accident. She can't rush back to her corporate job in the city until she finds it, so she's forced to accept help from Frank Ward, a veterinarian-and her former lover.
Frank thinks he's over Anya, but his heart tells him differently. So does Roger. Taking a chance, Frank tries to win her back. She wants nothing to do with the man who betrayed her that one wonderful summer. But her troubled heart knows it's missing something. Something the country heartthrob is offering. Something she doesn't trust.
Meanwhile, out of guilt and love of animals, Roger organizes a search party that needs a map just to find its way to the end of the block, let alone a frisky little dog.
While Frank and Anya chase after the beagle, a weird incident leaves her with the ability to "see" vague predictions about Windy Corners' citizens, an overwhelming "gift" she doesn't want, and one more reason to flee the town.
Will an escaped puppy, the village oddball, and excellent peach pie give the mismatched city executive and the small-town veterinarian a second chance at love? Even tarot cards can't predict if true love is in the future in this funny, sweet tale of hijinks and hope.
