Publisher's Synopsis

This book contains 67 well-known short stories about President Xi Jinping' s thoughts and practices of poverty alleviation. These stories were arranged in chronological order, spanning half a century from 1969 to 2019. They covered almost all places in his political life- from Liangjiahe Village in Shaanxi Province, Zhengding City in Hebei Province, to Fujian Province, Zhejiang Province, and finally to China' s central government. In addition, they recorded every aspect of Xi' s interactions with the people in need and leading them out of poverty, including learning about the hardships in the countryside for the first time at the age of 15 when he went to live and work in Liangjiahe Village and visiting all concentrated destitute areas in China. China' s poverty alleviation practices have made important contributions to achieving the goal of " no poverty," which is the first one of the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations.
