Publisher's Synopsis
10 stories I wrote in high school for creative writing class. I also ramble for a bit about what each of these mean to me, how they came to be and how they make me feel deep down inside, taking you on a journey through the early years of my storytelling career.
Austin Station - The first story of my writing career. A young woman meets the man who will take her away to a new life. A criminal flees the consequences of his drunken mistakes.
Two Peoples - Aliens and humans face language barriers as they attempt to stop a deadly missile headed for Earth. My attempt at promoting peace through storytelling.
Straws - Castaways on a distant planet must draw straws to see who lives or dies.
Thass Rit - A story about making friends with strange, furry aliens.
Breaking Free - Inspired by my girlfriend who wanted to outlaw most common pronouns, a woman fights back against a society where all human interactions are governed by law.
Sorn - A hungry and desperate man on a starving world must choose whether or not to save his wife who lost her memory and was sold into slavery. My attempt at being bleak and depressing.
Alien Children - The sequel to Thass Rit about a disobedient child.
Charlie - A story told from the perspective of a decommissioned interstellar exploration vessel.
The Last War - A story to explore my own experimenting with substances where the human race have all become drug addicts.
Memory - A former admiral becomes addicted to his own digitally recorded memories. My send-off from high school.
