Publisher's Synopsis
Stolen chickens.
A well-endowed bullock.
A farmer pushed to the edge.
And a private investigator in killer heels.
Private Investigator Jade Stone is up to her Versace heels in cow muck. In more ways than one.
In her latest case a farmer's livelihood is at stake. It starts with chickens, a dozen of them taken from their enclosure in the middle of the night. But that's paltry compared to what ganja-loving pensioner Heggarty fears the thieves will be coming for next.
'One-shot Dessie' is a well-endowed bullock renowned locally for impregnating half the county's cow population with strong, prime stock. This makes him something of a stud. And a money-maker. And Farmer Heggarty's prepared to go to any lengths to keep his most prized asset protected until Stone can root out the culprits.
It's not exactly a case for Crockett and Tubbs, but inspired by the Gucci spring collection and a far less inspiring bank balance, Stone takes on the case with her usual grace, flair and good fashion sense. But exchanging heels for wellies, silk blouse for a hoody, and the Z4 for a Vauxhall Astra, she's stopping at nothing this time to see justice served.
Turns out so is Heggarty. Though murder was never part of the plan...
