Excerpt from Stephen Clason of Stamford, Connecticut, in 1654, and Some of His Descendants
Access. Indeed, it can hardly be called a New England family, for the patriarch settled in the extreme southern bor der, and the general direction of emigration has been west rather than north. The early families were not as prolific the majority of New England families, and there was also in the earlier families, a remarkable preponderance of females. The posterity, therefore, bearing the name of the patriarch, is much less numerous than those of most settlers in New England who came at the same time. Though incomplete, and in some directions only fragmentary, it is believed that this little volume will enable all of this descent who bear the name of Clason, or any of its several variations, to connect themselves with Stephen Clason, who settled at Stamford, Conn., nearly two centuries and a half ago.
