Publisher's Synopsis

Status Quo are a boogie rock group formed during 1962 in Catford, London, England, UK, having begun as The Scorpions, founded by Francis Rossi and Alan Lancaster when they were schoolboys. After membership changes including Rick Parfitt joining in 1967, the band became The Status Quo during 1967, before dropping 'The' a couple of years later. They've had over 60 UK chart hit singles, more than any other rock group, including Paper Plane, Down Down, Caroline, Rain, What You're Proposin', Break the Rules, Whatever You Want and In the Army Now, of which 22 reached the UK Top 10. The band opened Live Aid at Wembley Stadium in July 1985 with Rockin' All Over the World, having received a Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music during 1991. Status Quo appeared on Top of the Pops on BBC 1 more times than any other group, having also played Wembley Arena more often than any other band with 45 gigs. They've released over 100 singles and 33 L.Ps, reaching # 5 on the UK albums chart in 1972 with Piledriver, since when Status Quo have gone on to have 25 UK top 10 L.Ps, including their latest issue, Backbone, during 2019.
