NENA is officially recognized by the Canadian Nurses Association as the national interest group representing the specialty of Emergency Nursing. Nine provincial groups and individuals from across Canada comprise the current membership of 900 nurses. The Standards of Emergency Nursing Practice that have been developed are specialty standards. They are intended for Registered Nurses working in any emergency setting -- from a small outpost to the largest teaching hospital. Topical coverage includes pre-hospital care areas (such as air transports or special events), community, industry or occupational health fields.
