Publisher's Synopsis
Saint Benedict was born at Norcia around 480 AD. That historical time frame, a mere four years before the Western Roman Empire formally fell by the deposition of the last Emperor, Romulus Augustulus, was quite difficult.
The life and Rule of Benedict are described, together with a brief discussion on his effect on the development of the monastic life. The Rule is recorded in full, together with the poem by Mark and Pope (Saint) Gregory's account of the life and miraculous works of Benedict.
