Kelsey Adams never thought he would lose his mind. Funny and laid back, he took life casually, at least until one of his best friends died in his arms. Now struggling with the aftermath of tragedy, he can't come to terms with the fact that he's not doing okay, and he's cut himself off from the person he needs the most.
Melly Garcia is dealing with her own grief. As worried as she is about Kelsey's abandonment, he's the least of her problems. Just as her life begins to change for the better, an old ghost from her past comes calling. Reluctantly, Kelsey is drawn in to be her protector--a role he feels incapable of filling. Melly begins to see a new side of the man who has always acted like a child, and she's terrified of her newfound attraction, an attraction she swore she would never feel.
Their relationship is changing, but both have their doubts that the new feelings between them can overcome their old issues and breech the gulf between where they are and where they want to be.
