Publisher's Synopsis

Specifically designed for teachers preparing students for the Cambridge First Certificate in English examination, this text offers over 120 hours of classroom teaching with a self access section allowing students to undertake further unsupervized study at home.;This is a multi-syllabus based course that aims to give students a thorough grounding in the grammatical forms, lexical items and phonological points needed to pass the FCE exam as well as develop reading and writing skills. This text aims to enable teachers to introduce students to the format of the exam through a variety of activities organized into topic based units.;Two features within the book are the review of the grammatical points and the exam advice. The book follows the format of the student's textbook and as such is divided into 13 units with an introductory unit which explains what is in each paper and gives typical examples. Interspersed within the text are progress tests and the book ends with a mock examination modelled on First Certificate examinations, allowing teachers to test without having to search for other material. The book contains a key to the exercises, tapescripts and also advice on methodology, exam hints, summaries of the points covered in each unit and suggested extra activities. Two C60 cassettes are available to accompany these books.
