Publisher's Synopsis
Tyaga-raja was an Indian saint-singer of the 19th century; a torch-bearer who stressed the primacy of spiritual values. The name Tyaga-raja means the prince of denouncers -- of those who give up their worldly desires. Renunciation is the way to mental peace and freedom. In the case of Tyaga-raja, renunciation is the result of undistracted devotion to God. He was a person of great humility, utter self-effacement. He expresses the truths of the Upanishads and the Bhagavad-gita in simple and appealing language. This volume of the songs of Tyaga-raja contains text in Devanagari and also in English translation.
