Publisher's Synopsis
Oathbreaker, kinslayer, exile, driven from his homeland, the Viking legend Ulfr 'the Wolf' Olaffson now menaces another. With him, he carries the key to the gods' unmaking, a piece of Ragnarok made real. The Valkyrie Skuld, also the strongest of the Fates, vows to end his murderous rampage. She is furious that he has discovered a way to cheat death. Skuld stalks him across the sea to the New World at the end of the Viking Age and together with Native trickster Co-Yo-Te she sees Ulfr brought down. She leaves the Tribes with a terrifying prophecy of return. Although each generation of Medicine man passes Skuld's warning to his successor, time fades his story to myth. A series of paranormal events and mysterious deaths in East Tennessee force a group of misfit allies to take up the fight anew. However, Skuld neglects to tell them that the cost of success may be the world-ending event they are trying to prevent. The bloodlust of the Spear of Chaos demands sacrifice and there are no good choices when the trap closes around them.
