Publisher's Synopsis
This volume is an exploration of poetry as a means of meditative healing. The author has been influenced by a variety of traditions such as spiritual healing of psychic pain, religious practices, transcendental reflections, and Eastern meditation. Volume I of "Sparks of Early Morning Wisdom" constitutes the basis of an interchange between poetic imagery and the use of daily inspirational reflections. It was inspired by the healing traditions of medicine, both East and West, in which words carry a particular role in harboring curative relationships. The author's primary objective is to offer this book to those who have never meditated before. The reflections and practices offered in this volume are best performed first thing in the morning. Ten to twenty minutes of reading and meditation can serve as a mode of thought collection to prepare one's focus for a new day. For those who are fond of poetic self-reflection, these verses can be read as morning meditations on life: developing a contemplative attitude when faced with challenges, negative events, and emotional stagnation. In time, reading poetry and reflecting have a growth-oriented effect on most of us, allowing for moments of transcendence and bestowing depth and wisdom about the world and fellow humans. Finally, for advanced meditators, these poems may serve as a keynote to delve into one's own daily meditative practice. The author has included over 30 poems here in order to provide an impetus for 30 meditations in a one-month span, hopefully one for each day. Depending on content and appropriateness for a particular life circumstance, poems can be taken out of order. At times, the reader may feel compelled to return to a poem that represents their current emotional state. Andrei Novac is currently working on a Volume II of poetry intended to promote further insights into the world of self-reflection.
